Our Mission
At Boxer Rebound, our mission is simple and powerful: Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Rehome. We are dedicated to giving Boxers the compassionate care they deserve while helping them heal in both body and spirit. Every dog that comes to us receives medical attention, behavioral support, and training to prepare them for a loving forever home. Guided by empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for the breed, we are here to give every Boxer a second chance at a happy life.

Every Boxer in our care has a story — and a whole lot of heart to share. If you’re ready to meet your next best friend, we’re here to guide you through the process. From your first application to the day your new family member heads home, we’re with you every step of the way.

Not all the dogs we support live under our roof. Our Courtesy Listings give pet guardians, rescues, and shelters a chance to safely rehome dogs in need, without sending them to a shelter. While these dogs are not in our care, we’re proud to share their stories and help them find loving homes.
Our Story
Boxer Rebound was founded in 1984 by Jeanette Everett, along with her husband Darrell and daughter Vanessa. But the story starts long before that. In the 1960s, Jeanette was a schoolteacher in Northern Illinois who passed by a Boxer tied to a tree each morning on her way to work. One day, she asked the family if they still wanted the dog. They said no. She brought that Boxer, named Lucky, home — and the spark for rescue was lit.
What began as one act of kindness grew into a lifelong mission. Jeanette started showing and breeding Boxers, but once she realized how many were being surrendered or abandoned, she shifted her focus entirely to rescue. With the support of her family, Boxer Rebound was born.
Today, the rescue continues under the leadership of Vanessa Everett, with a devoted team of volunteers who carry on Jeanette’s legacy. Boxer Rebound is one of the longest-standing Boxer rescues in the country, serving dogs and adopters in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan.
